Bring with you:

1 cup of water
1 cup of soil
"All you touch, you change.
All you change, changes you"

-Octavia E. Butler
Soil from my new garden site.

A workshop titled ‘movement, energy, sound and soil’
Bringing me close to all those four things.

To move, reset and reawaken my body
To bring energy to my body, my thoughts, my self
To sound, to speak, to sing, to listen
With soil, from my garden, from within, to plant, bury and touch.

Lead by artist An(Dré)a P. Ferdinand
we gathered: a group of individuals but joined in shared movement and discussion bringing us together as one.
Curated and organised by my good friend Lateisha Lovelace-Hanson
our ancestors were spoken aloud,
their stories, without space or safety to do so previously were invited into the space.

Seed stories were told,
heard.
The seed that planted us into growth, into being.
Parents, relatives, ancestors
their stories previous hushed and kept hidden were welcomed and invited to be shared with the other participating voices.

Soil was touched, smelt, pressed between fingers, passed through hands.
Water was sipped, watched and felt.

Sensory exercises enable me to be more conscious of two elements that are needed by my body to keep itself alive.

Two unified necessities for life;
water and soil.
